Dear Friend,

"Thank you for bringing me the Bible today."

Joy is 11. She lives in a remote part of Kenya with her parents, her brother and sister, and her grandmother. Earlier this year, a team from the Bible Society of Kenya visited her school, and Joy was handed a Bible of her own.

She opened it straight away and went looking for her favourite verse.

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.”

Then she said this: "I'm so happy to have my own Bible. I will share with my family."

Susan is a project officer with the Bible Society of Kenya. She has spent years visiting schools like Joy's and knows the barriers that prevent children from having their own Bible.

"These kids, they hardly get a meal ... For such a parent to think about purchasing a Bible, it doesn't even hit their mind. It's a luxury for them. The Bible is a luxury for them."

— Susan, Bible Society of Kenya

Last year, 23,276 children and young people in Kenya received Bibles and Scripture resources. In the first three months of this year, another 9,342 children and young people were reached across 33 schools.

But handing out the Bible is just the beginning.

The team returns to the schools to see how students are reading, and to help teachers keep Scripture in the school week. God grows what he plants. We simply help carry his Word to the children who want it and cannot reach it.

Susan has a message for you...

"Your contribution matters ... You are giving them an opportunity of hope because the Bible really gives them hope as they read the Word of God.”

Friend, your gift today helps the Bible reach hands that have been waiting for it.

Your gift goes where the need is greatest, including places such as Kenya, Ukraine and China.

Help the Bible reach their hands

Would you pray for Joy this week? Pray that she keeps reading the Bible and that her family reads with her.

And please pray for Susan and her team as they travel to the next school.

Thank you for standing with them.

God bless,

Pray with Bible Society Australia for our world right now

Our hearts break for the natural disasters affecting our world right now.

Please join us in praying for Nepal following the devastating floods that have impacted communities across the country. We pray for those grieving the loss of loved ones, for families who have been displaced and for the churches and aid organisations supporting recovery efforts.

Bible Society Australia does not support any projects in Nepal at present but we invite you to pray for the Nepal Bible Society as they stand with churches and ministries responding.

We are however supporting emergency work in Colombia, where a major earthquake struck on 10 August 2026. Through local churches and Christian partners, the Colombian Bible Society is providing humanitarian aid, distributing Scriptures and running Bible-based trauma healing programmes to help families recover.

Learn more about the emergency response in Colombia.

Thank you for praying with us.

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."
– Psalm 46:1 (NIV)

Want to support more Bible mission work and transform lives in Australia and around the world?

Prayerfully commit to regular giving to maximise your impact.
